Ohio's Largest Grassroots GOP Organization Calls For Resignation of COngressman Anthony GOnzalez After He Betrays GOP and VoteS To Impeach President Trump

Ratified By Unanimous Vote of The Strongsville GOP Membership

A RESOLUTION TO RESCIND OUR ENDORSEMENT,
ISSUE A VOTE OF NO CONFIDENCE

AND

CALL FOR THE RESIGNATION
OF CONGRESSMAN ANTHONY GONZALES

WHEREAS, on JANUARY 6, 2021, the US Capitol Building was overtaken by an unruly mob threatening the well-being of Capitol Police, legislators, their staff and other persons – leading to injuries and loss of life. This along with any other display of political violence has been condemned by Strongsville GOP and;

WHEREAS, The City of Strongsville is one of the largest cities in the 16th Congressional District currently represented by Congressman Anthony Gonzales and is the home of Ohio’s largest and most active GOP grassroots organization, Strongsville GOP, and;

WHEREAS, Strongsville GOP closed the 2020 cycle with over 200 paid members and thousands of activists who are active in civic engagement and the electoral process, emphasizing Republican and Conservative values when supporting candidates for elective office and elected officials in the course of governing, and;

WHEREAS, In support of President Donald J. Trump, Strongsville GOP has held a number of highly visible and well attended events surrounding, The State of The Union, GOP Convention and various other campaign related events, earning Strongsville GOP the distinction of being the most active and having the highest event attendance throughout the state of Ohio – nearing five thousand attendees in 2020 alone, and;

WHEREAS, Strongsville GOP has provided similar platforms and support for Representative Gonzales since he first announced his bid for congress in 2017; providing a grassroots network for his campaign efforts, along with delivering election margins of victory as large as 24 points in Strongsville, in addition, Strongsville GOP members have been indispensable throughout his tenure in shaping his policy priorities, and;

WHEREAS, Support for all elected officials representing Strongsville GOP membership is based on continued philosophical alignment, upholding the constitution, representing our values in their votes and driving public policy agenda that furthers the Republican brand, promotes prosperity and the regional and national interest, and;

WHEREAS, on 13 JANUARY 2021, Congressman Anthony Gonzales betrayed his constituents and Strongsville GOP membership when he voted with Democrats in their unconstitutional pursuit to impeach President Trump, without due process.

WHEREAS, This impeachment, the continuation of a sustained effort by Democrats to diminish President Donald J Trump’s policy agenda, to sow doubt and call into question, the people’s will and his legitimacy as President of The United States of America and to punish 74 MILLION Americans who voted for President Trump and his America First Agenda, into silence.

WHEREAS Based on media interviews, it is obvious that Congressman Gonzales relied on his emotions rather than the will of his constituents or any credible facts or conclusions surrounding the riot event, at best – at worst, he demonstrated a hidden vendetta against President Donald J. Trump in direct conflict of the will of the constituents that elected him and, indeed, the will of Strongsville GOP.

WHEREAS We have read and absorbed Congressman Gonzales’ statement explaining his vote, the will of his constituents was completely absent from his explanation. Instead, he resorted to emotional conclusions that misplaced blame on the President of Law and Order and America First. His conclusion, whether shaped by Democrat rhetoric, his emotional state which disabled him from properly processing the events or both, was misguided and antithetical to the will of his district.

WHEREAS We believe that Congressman Gonzalez knowingly and willfully violated his oath of office.

NOW THEREFORE, with more than 100 persons in attendance on this date, be it resolved UNANIMOUSLY by the members of The Strongsville GOP, that:

1. The Strongsville GOP rescinds our endorsement of Congressman Gonzales, as of February 8, 2021.

2. The decision to side with Democrats on their sustained appetite for impeachment, regardless of motive, severed the confidence of our Strongsville GOP membership, and therefore, we conclude that Congressman Gonzales does not represent the will of his constituents or Strongsville GOP, thus we call upon him, in the strongest terms, TO RESIGN his position as US Representative to the 16th Congressional District of Ohio.
